ODI Team of the year 2017 - Prediction

ODI Team of the year 2017 - Prediction

One day International Cricket the mother of twenty-20 game ruling the cricket world for the past 5 decades. Colour Colour jersey, limited overs, Duckworth Lewis rules, night and day game, make us to bit our nail in last 10 overs, particularly unlike test matches definitely it gives results either a win or lose and very rare tie game. This year only once that 50 over big event happened in the form of Champions Trophy. As of now 129 ODI matches done from ICC. Lot of records created and rewritten by our players. Lets discuss the ODI team of the year 2017 based on their performance and consistency.

1. Rohit Sharma (India)

Without any argument we can give the opening slot for Hit man. He is the second leading run scorer (1293 runs) in this year with an average of 71.83 from 21 matches. He has scored 6 centuries and 5 half centuries. More than a batsman he proved him as a successful captain in the ODI series against Srilanka. The man of double of centuries scored one more in this year against their neighbor srilankans. He scored 208* runs with just 153 balls with 13 boundaries and 12 huge sixes. More than his knock he dedicated this double century to his wife ritika as a second anniversary gift and the above pick ruled the Indian social medias.

2. Quinton de kock (South Africa)

There is a big competition for this position like Dhawan, Tharanga and de kock. But the young South African opener booked this slot comfortably by keeping average more than his competitors. He has scored 956 runs with an average of 53.11 from 19 matches. He scored 2 centuries and 7 half centuries this year. His furious knock of 168* against Bangladesh made his team a record making win. More than a batsman he maintained a decent records in wicket keeping too. I hope as a opener he can bridge a strong partnership with Rohit. Their left and right hand combination definitely would be a headache for opponents.

3 Virat Kohli (India)

There is no surprise in one down. As everyone expected the king made this position as his throne. He is the leading run scorer of this year, scored totally 1460 runs with an average of 76.84 from 26 matches. He has scored 6 hundreds and 7 fifties and marching towards Sachin in centuries. The Indian captain also will be the captain for this ODI team of 2017. The man recently got married with his girlfriend anushka sharma. Next year he is going to start a new series against SouthAfrica in overseas. This series will check his batting and captain potential.

4. Babar Azam (Pakistan)

Usually Pakistan will produce world class fast bowlers and spinners and sometimes they may give skilled batmen like Anwar, Inzamam, Yousuf, Younis etc., Babar is one among them. In very young age he made everyone to notice him. This year he has scored 872 runs with an average of 67.07 from 18 matches. He added 4 centuries and 2 fifties in this total runs. Even though Faf duplesis and Ross taylor scored more than him. I hope this young guy will reach more heights in pakistan cricket history. Except the champions Trophy we cant blame anything about his performance.

5. Joe root (England)

The England captain is now busy with ashes tournament. Every time he is saving the England top order from collapsing like Steve smith for Australia. We put him as the Vice captain for this ODI team. Root has scored 983 runs with an average of 70.21 from 19 matches in 2017. He scored 2 hundreds and 7 fifties in this list. Initially we thought to give him the 4th position, but root is a wonderful part time bowler. So we decided him to put him in this 5th position.

6. MS Dhoni (India)

Already we have one wicket keeper in this list, De kock. But except Mahi we cant think anyone to build a strong middle order. He has scored 788 runs with an average of 60.61 from 22 innings.  He scored 1 century and 6 half centuries this year. Ussain bolt will lose if he compete with MSD while running between the wickets. Everyone looking for his retirement, but his speed in stumping increasing day by day. He resigned his captaincy and concentrating fully on batting and building the team. Next year we can see his rage. During the first one day match against srilanka in december almost every batsman failed to score runs but this experienced hitter read the pitch and increased the team score with the help of tail enders.

7. Ben Stokes (England)

Seriously there is a tough competition for all rounder position between Ben Stokes and Hardik Pandya. Both are scored 616 and 557 respectively. In bowling they have taken 14 and 31 wickets. Pandya took more wickets than Stokes. But we decide to put stokes for this spot, and the reason is being an all rounder Pandya fail to create a magic as a match winner except the Champions Trophy finals against Pakistan. That is the only match he proved his skill. In remaining matches he just come and hit few boundaries and sixes thats it. Pandya has to take complete middle order responsible of the team like MSD. There is more jaddu in ODI Indian team, so next to Dhoni he has to take care of middle order. We think as of now he didnt grow upto that level. On the other hand Stokes took the entire responsibility of England's middle order. He used bowlers to built a partnership and increased team score. So this made us to select Stokes over Pandya.

8. Rashid Khan  (Afghanistan)

Many of the people doesnt know about this guy. This young Afghanistan Spinner is the second leading wicket taker of this year. He is just 20 years old. This year he has taken 43 wickets with an average of 10.44 from 15 innings. His strike rate is 16.4, it means for every 17th ball he took a wicket. His best is 7 wickets for 18 runs against West Indies. We expect this boy can create many wonders with his leg break in the upcoming years.

9. Liam Plunket (England)

Actually this guy has supposed to get retired a few years before due to his average performance in England team. But he bounce back to the team in 2015 and now became one of the most wanted bowler of this year. In 2017, he took 36 wickets with an average of 22.47 from 17 innings. His best is 5 for 52 against against West Indies. He took five wicket haul once and four wicket haul 3 times this year. Being a senior bowler of England team he is now guiding the young England pacers like Woakes and Jake Ball.

10. Hasan Ali (Pakistan)

Once again Pakistan produced a fast bowler for International cricket. He finished this year as leading wicket taker. Hasan took 45 wickets with an average of 17.04 from 18 innings. His best is 5 for 34. This year alone he took 3 five wickets haul. Everyone focusing on other Pakistan pacers like Wahab riaz, Amir and Junaid Khan. But this guy gives a surprise entry in Champions and took 13 wickets in 5 matches, and he is the Man of the Tournament. Still he didn't stopped he again bags 14 wickets in the series against Srilanka.

11. Jasprit Bumrah ( India)

Being a death over specialist this guy deserved the death position i mean the 11th men of this ODI team. This young Mumbai boy already proved him as a death over yorker specialist in the past few years IPL. Next to Lasith Malinga  he is the dangerous bowler in last five overs. At the same time he never failed to took early wickets. This year he finished as third leading wicket taker by grabbing 39 wickets with an average of 26.25 from 23 innings. His best is 5 for 27. Next year Indians having many matches in overseas only. Lets see how this guy will use England and Australian pitches.
