IPL 2018 - List of retention Players

                         Indian Premier League, a dream for many Indian young cricketers to book their seats in Indian Cricket Team. It give many players to our team right from Suresh Raina to Hardik Pandya. Not only for Indian Players even Foreign players also eagerly waiting for this T20 feast. So far 10 series completed successfully. But this year will be a most expected one. The main reason is the re-entry of the yellow jersey. Everyone wants to see the rivals CSK and MI to fight for the trophy again. After two years of suspend from IPL both Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals going to play this year. We were not sure the same players will play for their team. Still 4 more months are there for this big event. Let see the list of players retained by their team for IPL 2018.

                   The IPL committee make some rules for teams to retain players. As per that rules, each team can retain upto 5 players out of this 3 should be Indian players and 2 Foreigners or 2 uncapped Indian players. and the remaining 2 players they can bought by using Right to Match card at the time of IPL Auction. Each team can spend upto 80 crores. Here is the list of Retained Players.

Chennai Super Kings:

                  As everyone expected CSK retained the trio MSD, Raina and Jaddu. There is no surprise in that. They spend 15Crs for MSD, 11Crs for Raina and 7Crs for Jaddu. Still they have 47Crs remaining. Obviously Dhoni will the captain for the CSK boys. No need to discuss anything about him.

                Then come to Mr. IPL Raina, he is trying very hard to give a comeback in Indian Team. Recently he cleared the most difficult YO-YO test. But his performance in Ranji 2017 not that much satisfied. Last IPL also he performed well as Gujarat Lions captain. This IPL 11 is most important for him to make his presence in Indian team. Indian middle order is now a little bit weak due to the absence of Yuvi and Raina. Lets hope he can make by performing in this season. Eventhough Chennai had option like Ashwin or Jaddu? ,  I think they have made a good decision by picking Jaddu. This Left hander can use the pitch and control the run rate, at the same time he can hit some quick boundaries too.

                      

                  There are many options for CSK to pick players by using Right to Match card. But my guess, surely they will go for Bravo. The remaining one may be Ashwin, but the rules wont allow them to pick him. It should be foreigner or uncapped indian player. 

Delhi Daredevils: 

                       Delhi Daredevils team makes everyone surprise by picking lot of young players in IPL 2017. This year they retained the three most wanted players Rishab pant, Chris morris and Shreyas Iyer. They spent  8Crs, 7.1 Crs and 7Crs for them respectively.

                              Undoubtedly Rishab is the best choice to fill the gap made by Dhoni at the time of his retirement. This young wicket keeping batsman surely will be the dangerous hitter in future. Last year he performed well and the way he hit boundaries seems like playing effortless. Being young this year IPL is the best time for him to prove as the best replacement for MSD.

                            Chris Morris, no one will forget his furious knock of 82 from 52 balls against Gujarat lions with 8 huge sixes. We need to remember one more his quick fire against RPS 38 runs from just 9 balls, but most of the audience remember this match as Sanju Samson maiden IPL century only. Being an all-rounder he can add some quick runs and can take early wickets too. The decision made by DD to retain this player is absolutely right.

                          Shreyas Iyer, this one is a little disappointment for me i thought the third player will be Sanju samson. But DD picked Shreyas. Last year only he made his entry in Indian Cricket team and played some decent knocks. Apart from that he didnt make any impact in Indian Team. Its his responsibility to prove his retention right in IPL 11.

                     Still DD can pick 2 players by using Right to Match card at the time of Auction. My guess they will go for Shami and Rabada. If they want to pick a batsman and bowler means the option be like Samson and Rabada.

Kings XI Punjab

                     As of now KXIP didnt made any impact in IPL except the season 1 and season 7. This year they retained only one player for them. Axar patel, this left arm all rounder going to continue as KXIP player in this IPL11 with price of 6.75 Crs. He is the only Indian player that KXIP can retain from 2017 team. But, is it sufficient for them. Having world class players like Amla, Maxwell, sami, Miller, Guptil etc., still they didnt retain any of them. It seems like KXIP planning to create a new team. Now they can pick 3 players with the help of Right to Match card.

                      I guess they will pick Miller, Maxwell and Saha. But this looks like the old KXIP team. One  more option they can pick Saha alone and will buy remaining players from auction. Because other teams having 47 crores average after retaining players. But having 67.5Crs they will pick players if other teams doesnt wants to pick a player when the bidding amount gone more.

Mumbai Indians

                        The defending champions, three time title winner, Gods team aiming one more time for the IPL trophy. As everyone expected they retained the 3 most wanted players of IPL. Rohit Sharma the Hitman, man of double century, Mumbai captain, now the fastest century in ICC T20 in 35 balls. MI retained him for the price of 15Crs. He is in excellent form in Indian pitches. If he continue his form surely no one can defend MI from winning the title again.

                        Mumbai Indians second retained player is Hardik Pandya. The Indian all-rounder was retained by their team for the price of 11Crs. Everyone telling this person as West Indies player because of his approach towards ball. He is hitting the ball with the power as like as west indian players. He will be the key player for MI in this tournament. Third pick is Jasprit Bumrah, the death over specialist. MI retained him for 7Crs. But i feel like MI should give 11Crs for Bumrah and 7Crs for Pandya. Anyway they picked both.

                      Mumbai's pick is one of the best of this IPL 2018 retention players list. Because they picked a hard hitting captain, a all-round hitter and a death over specialist. Still they have 47 crs and 2 players from RTM (right to match). My guess is they will go for Pollard and Lasith malinga. Again they are targeting the trophy. As like last year this year wont be that much easy they has to face their rivals CSK. Good luck Mumbai.

Kolkata Knight Riders

                          The two times IPL Champions were the nightmare for all the teams. Last  year they finished the series in eliminator round. For the past 5years they had a good combination of players.. Now they retained two players for IPL 2018. Sunil Narine, the magical west indies spinner retained by KKR for 8.5Crs. As everyone knows he control the opponent team run rate with his spin and with regular intervals he can pick wickets too. But last year surprising he came to bat in top order, his furious knock keeps his team run rate higher at the power plays. He is worth for this money spent by KKR.

                         Andre Russell, one of the greatest allrounder from west indies soil was the key player in short format games. KKR retained him for the price of 7 Crs. His contribution in team KKR is the best next to Narine. So without any hesitation KKR picked him. Now KKR can pick 3 players by using Right to Match card at the time of auction. But the worst thing is they already chosed two foreign players so they cant able to go for the hard hitting opening batsman Chris Lynn.

                           If my prediction is correct they will go for Gautam Gambhir, Surya kumar yadav and Kuldeep yadav. They dont want to loss their best captain. Gambhir is one of successful captain in IPL history next to MSD and Rohit. Eventhough they having Uthappa, Manish, Umesh and chawla. KKR owner knows definitely they can pick those players for base price itself. But there will be great demand for suryakumar and kuldeep if they went for auction. Kuldeep the chinaman bowler picked hat trick in recent time and he is good form. Suryakumar is one of the good middle order hitter and fielder and he is one of the main reason for KKR to win in few matches. Lets hope Kolkata should pick the predicted one.

Rajastan Royals

                    After facing two years of ban from IPL, the first champion of IPL ready to give their comeback this year with CSK. Eventhough they have lot of quality players they retained only one player now. Its none other than the Aussie captain and RR captain Steve smith. They retained him for the amount of 12Crs. Nothing is there to discuss about this guys selection.Now he is one of the best batsman in the cricket world. Started his career as part time bowler, rocked with his fielding skills and now became the No 1 test batsman. At the same time he can adopt himself while playing in ODI and T20s. 

                   Now its a crucial time for RR in selecting players during IPL auction. Still they have 67.5Crs left and 3 players can pick by using RTM card. My guess is they will go for Rahane for sure. and the remaining two is confusing. Because next to rahane best batsman is Samson, but last two year he played for DD. RR has to compete with DD in picking Samson. If DD he used RTM for samson rajastan will go for Karun nair or Stuart Binny. 

                Remaining two will be foreign players Chris morris played for RR in 2015 but DD retained him. So RR will go for Tim southee, he is worth to pick. The last player may be Faulkner or Watson. Unfortunately both were not in good form, which makes RR to be in cat on a wall. Most probably they will pick Faulkner. Lets wait for auction.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

                    One of the greatest mystery in IPL history why RCB cant able to win IPL title??? Having lot of world class players in the team, Greatest hitters like Gayle & ABD, A class batsman like Virat kohli, still they are waiting for to win a single title. We will make a seperate post for this. This year they have retained three players. Out of 3, two players everyone will guess correctly Kohli and ABD.

Both were retained for the amount of 17 and 11 Crs repectively. We doesnt wants to discuss about their selction. 

                   But the third player is a surprise, the young wicket keeping batsman Sarfaraz khan. The selection of this 20 year old player player is the biggest surprise of this IPL retention list. Most of us just heard his name, but he is one of the hard hitting batsman. Definitely its kohli's selection only. Kohli may have a plan for him to play in 5th position. Its a lifetime opportunity for sarafaz, i just wants that guy to prove his selection in the team. 

                 Still RCB can pick 2 players by using RTM. One foreign and one domestic player. The Indian player is Yuvendra Chahal, its 100% sure. The foreign player may be Chris Gayle but we cant assure that. The predator is the saviour of RCB in many matches. But his recent form makes his selection questionable. Lets hope atleast this year RCB fans dream might come true. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad

                            The 2016 champion of IPL retained only two players for the upcoming season. Both are world class players. One is the SRH captain David Warner and another one is Indian bowler Bhuvaneshwar Kumar.  SRH retained them for the price of 12Crs and 8.5 Crs respectively. One is hard hitting opener and another one is best opening and death over bowler. 

                      Still they have 59 Crs in their wallet and can pick 3 players by using RTM. As already they picked a foreign player now can use RTM for one foreign player. They have lot of options like Williamson, Mustafizur rahman, Chris Jordan, Moises henriques but i hope they will pick the young afghan spinner rashid khan. Last year IPL he played for SRH and picked 17 wickets from just 11 matches. This year he is one of the top wicket takers in ODI. There will be a heavy competition for this guy. So if SRH picked him by using RTM, it will be one of the best decision taken by them.

                     Two Indian Players will be Shikar dhawan and Yuvi. SRH team has strongest bowling lineup in the past two years of IPL. Lets wait for this year IPL, I hope risers can finish the series in top 4 again.
